Nearly $12K raised for St. Jude

Dec 5, 2018, 12:00 AM Charity

The threat of rain didn’t deter the team from Big M Transportation Run/Walk Team from participating in the 2018 St. Jude Marathon Weekend in Memphis, Tennessee Saturday morning. Team members from Big M participated in races ranging from the 5k to the half-marathon this year. Through individual and corporate sponsors, the team from Big M finished their fundraising efforts with a whopping $11,883 donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries they make, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
